June 2005 Local Metroadeo
Grady and Brady once again top Metroadeo
The 29th Annual King County Metro Transit Roadeo was held last Saturday, and once again two longtime award winners topped the competition.
Michael Grady from Metros East Base placed first in the Operator Division, marking his fourth Metroadeo win. In second place, was North Bases Don Brady an eight-time roadeo winner. Third place went to Mel Nason, another North Base driver. Mechanic Ryan Stringfellow switched hats and entered the novice drivers competition winning the "Maverick" award.
Other Top 10 finishers in the Operator Division were: Chai Kunjara; Tom Ponischil; Fred Sambrano; Chet Genther; Janet Palmer; Eric Vickery; and Edward Seymore, Jr.
The annual Metroadeo competition pits bus drivers against their peers on a closed course. Metro winners often go on to compete very successfully at the tate and national levels. Grady will now move on to state competition in August.
