The 1991 Operator of the Year is Dan Kyllo
Dan qualified for employment as a bus driver for the then Seattle Transit System on February 13, 1962. During the following 29 1/2 years he would create a spectacular record of performance excellence and outstanding achievement.
During the past twelve years, Dan's attendance has been perfect. His excellent passenger relations skills and a determination to provide the very best in quality transportation services has earned him over 50 commendations from satisfied customers. Dan's safety record is also very impressive. He has earned a 25 year safe driver award. Metro's Safety Section, recognizing his expertise, regularly requests his presence on their accident review board. Recognizing Dan as the consummate professional, his co-workers have voted him Operator of the Month three times; at Central Base in 1979, Ryerson Base in 1984 and at Central Base again in 1990.
Dan was born and raised in the Eastern Washington town of LaCrosse, near the Idaho border. He is one of seven children, having four brothers and two sisters. He and his wife Barb have been married nearly 33 years. They have three children, Stan, Stephanie and Carol. They also have a 2 1/2 year old grandson, Jaeson.
When Dan leaves work he enjoys just about any type of sporting activity. His favorite is Seahawk football. He loves to drive and both he and Barb love to travel. Dan also finds time to act as "Official Greeter" to Kyllo's Lakeside Delicatessen, located near Green Lake at Ravenna and Woodlawn in Seattle.
