The 1983 Operator of the Year is William "Bill" Jacobsen

Bill became an operator on December 1, 1948. During his past 34 years he has earned a 22-year safe driving award, and there are many commendations in his file. They commend Bill for being kind and pleasant; a steady-smooth driver; for his abilities of making the ride more enjoyable for passengers; for his cooperation and thoughtfulness; and, for his attitude toward his passengers and fellow employees. These are commendations that describe an excellent operator. all of Metro appreciates his outstanding performance.
