she watched fingerlings
hover
assemble disassemble
flash flash
translucence of roe
turned on yolky ballast
to metallic needle
to ocean seeker
perhaps to food perhaps
to keeper of a cycle.
Deep in night's sleep
she will drift
lost among pencils
eyeglasses
lone socks
orphaned hats
will see matching gloves rejoin
wake
find she has finned
to diagonal of the bed
head north feet south
true as a compass.
