Central Puget Sound Regional Fare Coordination Project

ORCA System

Seven transportation agencies have implemented a regional fare collection system which enables customers to use one fare card on multiple Agency services throughout the four county Central Puget Sound area. Smart card fare collection technology is used to pay for trips on transit ferries and rail and to transfer between buses and link or Sounder rail.

System Status

• April 20, 2009: The Agencies launched the ORCA system in revenue service.
