Lost Tranquility
I remember peace
A time when Afghanistan was beautiful
When walking across a field
Was not courting death
From the mines.
I remember when I lived in a house
Not a camp, and we were not
Refugees. Ten years ago? Fifteen?
I have lost count.
We traded smiles for rifles,
Kindness for hate.
We lost peace. We found war.
