Eighteen Again

Sweet spicy smell of sagebrush,
the ache of the night a boy first touched me,
one of the last summers
my skin was even vaguely tan.
Teasing and laughing,
I had no idea that almost ten years later
I would long for that night,
for that place
when everything was new and
about to happen.
