Island Time

Prepare to wait.
Accept delays.
Park your car.
Turn off the gas.

Remember,
Islands are attached.
Ferries float.
Walk up the ramp.

Sit and close your eyes.
Endure the blaring horn,
Dispatching engines, pulling
tonnage from the dock.

Join their diesel drumming.
Drift beyond the railings-
Let coffee cool.
Sip the wind.
