Directions

When I think of leaving, I head East on I-90
alive with a map of mornings, drawn toward
magnetic Atlantic's shore of sunrise,
where a seawall of hope edges coastline.
When I leave there's no turning West,
a scant hundred miles to rearrange life,
up to my neck in frigid Pacific
chasing a sun too quickly gone.
