Vesper
Light clear as a little hymn preserves these
crabapple days, a scent leafy and drying;
stitches the bare trees like lace
to the hem of the evening sky.
In the streets, the light jells,
catches tv antennas, clotheslines
& bicycles-suspends each
in its appointed act-folds in the weather.
