An environment for positive change

In April of 2013, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587 (bargaining unit for the majority of the Transit workforce) published an open letter to King County Metro. The letter highlighted the union's concerns with an imbalance in Metro Transit's workplace practices. The letter also challenged Metro King County management to work with the union on the desired outcome - a work environment characterized by openness and objectivity.

On September 24, 2013, a joint initiative was established and the Partnership to Achieve Comprehensive Equity (PACE) Charter was signed. Read the full charter. Under this charter, by partnering together ATU and Metro will create an environment for positive change, improved communication among all employees, and a workforce that reflects, respects and embraces diversity as a shared core value of our service to the public.

The partnership is committed to developing the policies, processes, and tools necessary to support a work culture of inclusion, fairness and comprehensive equity for all within the agency.
