Route 9 changes

Route 9 will become a limited-stop express route operated with clean-air diesel buses instead of trolleys.

Route 9 will operate Monday through Friday between Rainier Beach, First Hill, and Broadway only. It will no longer operate to the University District. For service to the University District, transfer to new Route 49 on Broadway.

All trips on Route 9 will start and end at Rainier Ave. S. & S. Henderson St.

Route 9 will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours, northbound from Rainier Beach to Broadway from about 6 am to 9 am and from 3 pm to 5 pm. It will operate southbound from Broadway to Rainier Beach at 6:49 am, 7:19 am and 7:49 am and every 30 minutes between 1:57 pm and 6:28 pm. Route 9 will operate every 60 minutes during the midday, northbound to Broadway from about 9 am to 3 pm, and southbound from about 7:49 am to 2 pm. Pick up a new teal Route 9 timetable for specific trip times.

Along Rainier Ave S. between S. Henderson St. and S. Jackson St., Route 9 will serve bus stops at: S. Orcas St., S. Genesee St., S. McClellan St., S. Andover St., S. Edmunds St., S. Walker St., I-90 Freeway Stations, and S. Dearborn St.

Route 9 will serve all posted bus stops between 12th Ave. S. & S. Jackson St. and Broadway Ave. E. & E. Harrison St.

From Rainier Beach to Broadway, the last northbound bus stop on Broadway will be at E. Harrison St. From Broadway to Rainier Beach, the first southbound bus stop will be on 10th Ave. E. at E. Aloha St.
