Metro Route Revisions Effective Saturday, September 27, 2014

Below is a numerical listing of affected routes throughout Metro's service area. Visit Metro Online or pick up a new orange timetable for complete route and schedule information.

Routes deleted

Route 7 Express

Routes 7, 106, and Sound Transit Link light rail will provide alternative service to and from downtown Seattle. Route 9E connects with Link at Mount Baker Station and with Metro routes 212, 214, 216, 218 and 219, and ST routes 550 and 554 at the I-90/Rainier Avenue South freeway station.

In order to maintain peak period service to and from 62nd Ave S & S Prentice St, three Route 7 trips to downtown Seattle leaving 62nd Ave S & S Prentice St at 6:28, 6:52 and 7:29 am, and three Route 7 trips to Prentice St leaving 3rd Ave & Union St at 4:31, 4:52 and 5:19 pm will be added.

Route 19

Routes 24, 33 and the RapidRide D Line will provide alternative service to and from downtown Seattle. On weekdays, four morning peak period and two afternoon peak period Route 24 trips will be extended along Viewmont Way W to and from Magnolia Blvd W & W Emerson St.

Route 47

Routes 10, 11, 43 and 49 will provide alternative service to and from downtown Seattle. Riders who normally board or exit Route 47 on Summit Ave E or Bellevue Ave E will need to walk to or from routes 8 and 43 on Olive Way, or Route 49 on Pine St or Broadway.

Route 48 Express

Routes 48 and 355 will provide alternative service between Loyal Heights and the U-District. During the morning peak period, three southbound Route 48 trips will begin at 32nd Ave NW & Loyal Ave NW instead of 1st Ave NW & NW 90th St to help offset the deletion of Route 48 Express service.

Route 61

Routes 17E, 18E and 40 will provide alternative service between North Beach and NW Market St in Ballard. Route 40 also serves Leary Way NW.

Route 62

Routes 40 and the RapidRide D Line will provide alternative service between Ballard and downtown Seattle. Routes 31 and 32 will provide alternative service on W Nickerson St.

Route 139

Route 123 will provide alternative service between Gregory Heights and the Burien TC during the morning and afternoon peak periods.

Route 152

Route 190 at the Star Lake P&R and Sounder service at Auburn Station will provide alternative service to and from downtown Seattle. Also, one Route 178 trip to downtown Seattle will be revised to serve the Star Lake P&R at 5:39 am.

Route 161

On the Kent East Hill, Route 169 will provide alternative service between the Kent TC and the South Renton P&R where transfers can be made to and from downtown Seattle. Route 150 serves Interurban Ave S and the Tukwila P&R.

Route 173

The RapidRide A Line will provide alternative service to the Tukwila International Blvd Link Station where a transfer can be made with Route 124 to and from East Marginal Way S.

Route 202

Revised Route 204 will provide alternative service between South Mercer Island and the Mercer Island P&R where transfers can be made to and from Metro Route 216 or ST routes 550 and 554 to and from downtown Seattle.

Route 203

Route 205

Revised Route 204 will provide alternative service to and from the Mercer Island P&R where transfers can be made to Metro Route 216 and ST routes 550 and 554 to and from downtown Seattle and connecting routes to and from First Hill and the U-District.

Route 209

Route 208 and the SVT (Snoqualmie Valley Transportation) shuttle will provide alternative service to and from North Bend.

Route 210

Alternative service will be provided by Route 212 between downtown Seattle and the Eastgate P&R, and Route 241 between the South Bellevue and Eastgate Park & Rides via Factoria and SE Newport Way.

Route 211

Metro routes 216, 218 and 219, and ST Route 554 will provide alternative service between the Issaquah Highlands P&R and downtown Seattle via the 142nd Pl SE freeway stations. At the Mercer Island P&R, routes 216 or ST 554 provide service to and from downtown Seattle, and connections with the First Hill Streetcar on S Jackson St or routes 2, 3, 4 or 12 to and from First Hill.

The First Hill Streetcar, scheduled to begin operating in late 2014, will provide service between Capitol Hill and the Chinatown/International District and King Street stations via Broadway.

Route 213

Route 215

Route 208 will provide alternative service to the Issaquah TC where connections to Metro Route 214 or ST Route 554 can be made to and from downtown Seattle.

Route 243

Alternative service will be provided by the following routes:

  • At the Bellevue TC, Metro Route 271 and ST Route 555 serve SR-520
  • At Evergreen Point , ST routes 540, 542 and 555 serve the U-District
  • In the U-District, routes 65, 68, 75, 372 and 373 operate in areas previously served by Route 243
  • In northeast Seattle, Metro routes 72, 271 and 372, and ST routes 540 and 542 serve the U-District
  • In Jackson Park, routes 347 and 348 connect with ST Route 555 at the Northgate TC. Also, Route 373 connects with routes 271 and ST Route 542 in the U-District

Route 250

Metro routes 249 and 268, and ST Route 545 will provide alternative service on portions of discontinued Route 250 between Overlake and downtown Seattle via SR-520.

Route 260

Route 234 will provide alternative service between Kenmore and south Kirkland. Transfer to Route 255 in Juanita for service to and from downtown Seattle.

Also, Metro Route 312 and ST Route 522 on NE Bothell Way provide service to and from downtown Seattle.

Route 265

Route 245 and the RapidRide B Line, in combination with Metro routes 255 and 268, or ST Route 545, will provide alternative service to and from downtown Seattle.

Route 280 Night Owl

No viable options are available for this route.

Route 306

Metro routes 309, 312 and 372, and ST Route 522 will provide alternative service on portions of discontinued Route 306 between Kenmore and downtown Seattle. The portion of discontinued Route 306 that operates north of NE Bothell Way on 61st and 68th Ave NE will not have replacement service.

DART 909

Sound Transit Route 560, leaving from the southbound Kennydale Freeway Station (N 30th St & I-405), will provide alternative service to the Renton TC. Routes 105, 240 and DART 908 will provide alternative service between the Renton Highlands and the Renton TC.

DART 919

DART Route 915 will provide alternative service on Auburn Way S and at the Auburn Senior Center. In north Auburn, use routes 180 or DART 910.

DART 927

Routes 216 and 219 will provide alternative one-way service in Sammamish. In Issaquah, use Metro Route 208 or ST Route 554.

DART 935

Routes 234 between Kenmore and Juanita, and 255 between Juanita and Totem Lake will provide alternative service.


Note: Although the King County Council approved the deletion of Night Owl routes 82, 83 and 84, the City of Seattle has committed to contract for the continued operation of these routes through a "buy back" program.

Routes revised or with reduced service

Route 24

On weekdays, four morning peak period trips to downtown Seattle that currently leave from 35th Ave W & W McGraw St will be revised to leave from Magnolia Blvd W & W Emerson St instead at 6:31, 7:05, 7:35 and 8:13 am.

Also, two afternoon trips that end at 35th Ave W & W McGraw St at 4:55 and 5:55 pm will continue to Magnolia Blvd W & W Emerson St. Since Route 19 will be deleted, these changes will help maintain peak period service on W Viewmont Way W.  

Route 27

On weekdays, Route 27 will operate during the peak periods only. All weekday off-peak and weekend service will be deleted. During those times, no service will be available east of 31st Ave S, but Route 14 on S Jackson St, Route 3 on E Cherry St or Route 4 on 23rd Ave S will be available for service to and from downtown Seattle.

Route 30

On weekdays, Route 30 will operate during the peak periods only. All weekday off-peak and weekend service will be deleted. Routes 48, 65, 73, 75 and 372 will provide alternative service on portions of Route 30 between Sand Point and the U-District. Route 74E provides westbound service in the morning peak period and eastbound service in the afternoon peak period. 

Route 33

Route 33 will operate in downtown Seattle via 3rd Ave S & S Washington St during the weekday off-peak periods (midday and evening) and on weekends when Route 27 is not operating.

Route 48

During the morning peak period, three southbound Route 48 trips will begin at 32nd Ave NW & Loyal Ave NW, instead of 1st Ave NW & NW 90th St, to help offset the deletion of Route 48E service.

Route 178

One northbound Route 178 trip to downtown Seattle will be revised to serve the Star Lake P&R at 5:39 am.

Route 200

Route 200 will operate between about 9 am and 3 pm, only. Morning and afternoon peak period service will be discontinued. Sound Transit Route 554 will provide alternative service between downtown Issaquah and the Issaquah TC.

Route 201

Two trips in the morning and one in the afternoon will be revised to coordinate with the revised Route 204 schedule.

Route 204

On weekdays, morning and afternoon peak period trips will be added to increase the frequency of service from 6 am to 6 pm. Route 204 will no longer be connected to Route 203.

Service frequency midday will be reduced from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and service on weekends will be discontinued. Peak period trips (northbound in the morning and southbound in the afternoon) will operate via Island Crest Way, SE 78th St and 84th Ave SE.

Route 208

With routes 209 and 215 being discontinued, the Route 208 schedule will be revised to provide a wider span of service. However, service frequency will be reduced to about 120 minutes. There will be major schedule adjustments in the morning including the first westbound trip that will enable commuters to make a transfer at the Issaquah TC and arrive in downtown Seattle by 8 am.

Route 212

One morning and one afternoon peak period trip will be added to help offset the deletion of Route 210 service. 

Route 236

On weekdays, the last northbound trip to Woodinville will leave the Kirkland TC at about 8 pm. The last southbound trip to Kirkland will leave the Woodinville P&R at about 7:30 pm. There will be no change to the span of service on weekends.

Route 238

On weekdays, the last northbound trip to UW/Cascadia College in Bothell will leave the Kirkland TC at about 7 pm. The last southbound trip to Kirkland will leave UW/Cascadia College at about 6:50 pm.

On Saturday, the last northbound trip will leave Kirkland at about 6:50 pm. The last southbound trip will continue to leave the UW/Cascadia College at about 6:50 pm.

Route 249

On weekdays, the last northbound trip to the Overlake TC and the last southbound trip to the South Bellevue P&R will be discontinued. On Saturday and Sunday, the last northbound trip and the last two southbound trips will also be discontinued.

Also, Route 249 will be revised to serve the inside bus stop at the Overlake P&R.

Route 312

One morning and one afternoon trip will be added to help offset the deletion of Route 306 service.

Route 331

All trips after 7 pm will be discontinued. For service after 7 pm, the following routes can be used to make connections at the Northgate TC:

  • Route 345 at Shoreline College
  • Route 346 at the Aurora Village TC
  • Route 347 in Ballinger Terrace
  • ST Route 522 in Kenmore and Lake Forrest Park; transfer to routes 41 or 75 in Lake City

DART 903

On weekdays, midday service frequency will be reduced leaving the Federal  Way TC between 8:45 am and 3:52 pm, and from 35th Ave SW & SW 342nd St between 9:08 am and 4:18 pm. The last evening trips will leave the Federal Way TC at 7:15 pm and from 35th Ave SW & SW 342nd St at 7:38 pm.

On Saturday, hourly service will be provided at the Federal Way TC between 10:15 am and 6:35 pm, and at 35th Ave SW & SW 342nd St between 9:32 am and 6:59 pm.

On Sunday, hourly service will also be provided at the Federal Way TC between 10:45 am and 5:55 pm, and at 35th Ave SW & SW 342nd St between 10:02 pm and 5:19 pm.

DART 931

Midday and Saturday service will be discontinued.

Routes revised for construction

Route 49

From Sunday to Friday, Route 49 will be revised to serve a new terminal located southbound on University Way NE just south of NE 52nd St. It will operate on 15th Ave NE north of NE 45th St, and on NE 50th St, Brooklyn Ave NE, NE 52nd St and University Way NE.

On Saturday, only, Route 49 will continue to operate its current routing to 12th Ave NE just south of NE 47th St.

Route 122

On weekday mornings, northbound Route 122 trips to downtown Seattle will operate via 1st Ave S and SW 150th St to the Burien TC. Route 122 will no longer operate westbound on SW 152nd St, west of 1st Ave S, northbound on Ambaum Blvd SW or eastbound on SW 150th St, west of the Burien TC access road.

Southbound routing to Highline College will remain unchanged.
