Mount Baker

Affected Routes: 14, 38

Table of Contents

Purpose

  • Connect the Mount Baker neighborhood to Link light rail stations.

Proposed changes

Route 14

  • Extend route to the Mount Baker Station and delete the portion of the route east of 31st Avenue S and S McClellan.

Route 38

  • Provide service between Beacon Hill and Mount Baker (Hunter Boulevard S/S Hanford Street), partially replacing Route 14 service.
  • Discontinue service between SODO and Beacon Hill.

Advantages

Route 14

  • Would connect riders on S Jackson Street and 31st Avenue S to Mount Baker Station.

Routes 14 and 38

  • Would connect the Mount Baker neighborhood to the Mount Baker and Beacon Hill Link stations.

Disadvantages

Route 14

  • Current Route 14 riders east of 31st Avenue S would have to transfer to replacement Route 38 to reach downtown Seattle. However, the estimated travel time between Mount Baker and downtown Seattle by way of a transfer at Mount Baker Station would be up to six minutes faster than existing service.
