Sounder Tukwila Station — East Marginal Way S Routes that could be affected: 126 and 154
Why Metro is suggesting changes
To improve peak commuter service to East Marginal Way S and the Duwamish industrial area.

Suggested changes
- Discontinue Route 126.
- Shorten Route 154 to provide service between the Sounder Tukwila Station and Federal Center South. Change its routing to operate along East Marginal Way S instead of State Route 599. Increase service levels to provide better connections with Sounder commuter rail service.
Advantages
- Connections between Sounder Tukwila Station and East Marginal Way would be more frequent and provide better connections to Sounder trains.
- Link light rail and Route 140 would provide frequent all-day service for riders between Rainier Beach and Southcenter via a transfer at the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station.
Disadvantages
- Riders of the current Route 126 between Rainier Beach and Tukwila would have to transfer at the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station.
- Route 154 riders from Auburn or Kent would no longer have direct bus service. They would have to take Sounder commuter rail and transfer at the Sounder Tukwila Station, or take a different bus and transfer to Route 154 at the Tukwila Park-and-Ride.
- Route 154 would take about five minutes longer between Tukwila Park-and-Ride and Federal Center South.
Potential service enhancements
Route 154
- Revised Route 154 would operate at least four trips each in the morning and afternoon peak hours. Trips would be scheduled to meet peak-direction Sounder trains at the Tukwila Sounder Station. Depending on the resources available, more trips might be added.
