Pacific Highway S — International Boulevard Routes that could be affected: 174, 191; new RapidRide A Line; and possible new Route 124
Why Metro is suggesting changes
- Improve the frequency, speed, and reliability of transit service in the Pacific Highway South/International Boulevard corridor between Federal Way and Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station.
- Maintain transit service connecting the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station, Tukwila, the SODO (south of downtown) area, and downtown Seattle.

Suggested changes
- Discontinue routes 174 and 191.
- Begin new RapidRide service between Federal Way and the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station along Pacific Highway S in 2010.
- Replace Route 174 with new Route 124 between the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station and downtown Seattle.
Advantages
- RapidRide service on Pacific Highway S will be more frequent and more reliable than existing service, with improved bus stop facilities and rider amenities.
Disadvantages
- Some Route 174 riders traveling between Federal Way and downtown Seattle would have to transfer to Link or between bus routes.
Potential service enhancements
New Route 124
Operate Route 124 between downtown Seattle and the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station via the SODO area at least every 30 minutes from 5 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Operate two early-morning 'owl' trips on new Route 124 in each direction, with departures from downtown Seattle at 2:15 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. every day.
New RapidRide A Line
The RapidRide A Line between Federal Way and the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station will operate at least every 10-15 minutes during peak periods, every 15 minutes during off-peak periods until about 9 p.m., and then every 30 minutes until 12 a.m. After midnight, early-morning 'owl' trips departing from the Tukwila International Boulevard Link Station will be coordinated with Route 124 trips.
Depending on the resources available, Metro may consider additional service on RapidRide. These options might include:
- More frequent night service (9 p.m.–12 a.m.)
- More frequent 'owl' service (12–4 a.m.)
