Pilot Program
Planned earlier evening Tunnel entrance closure
Tunnel entrance at Third/Pine to close at 8 p.m. nightly from Jan. 12 - June 7, 2013
Starting later this Spring, Metro will close the entrance to the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel that is located on the south side of Pine Street east of Third Avenue at 8 p.m. each night to see if it contributes to improved security and reduces operational costs. When this entrance is closed early, Transit customers can use the accessible entrances on the north side of Pine Street. The results of this pilot project will shape whether Metro also selects other tunnel entrance locations to be closed earlier in the evening.
