Updated April 5, 2013
Construction began Monday, August 20, and continues for about two years, at the South Kirkland P&R and adjacent roadways. A Transit Oriented Development (TOD) project at South Kirkland will include a new transit center and parking garage.
Major Changes Begin April 22
- Northwest Parking Area closed
- New Replacement Parking nearby (1-2 blocks south)
- NE 38th Pl West Entrance Closed except for Transit & ADA Vehicles
- NE 38th Pl East Entrance Remains Open
Beginning Monday, April 22, parking in the northwest section of the South Kirkland Park-and-Ride (behind the temporary bus stop) will close for 4-6 weeks for resurfacing and restriping. During this time, construction activity will reduce the number of available parking spaces to 142 in the south parking area. Use the NE 38th Pl east entrance for parking.
The ADA parking spaces behind the bus stop will remain open. Use the NE 38th Pl west entrance to access ADA parking. Only authorized vehicles accessing ADA parking can use the NE 38th Pl west entrance roadway.
REPLACEMENT PARKING for up to three months is located 1-2 blocks south, at the temporary Talon Portfolio Services P&R lot at 10700 Northup Way (see map). The Talon P&R is available to commuters Monday through Friday, between 5 am and 7 pm. The entrance to this 213-space parking lot is from Northup Way, about 600 feet west of 108th Ave NE. Riders will need to walk to and from the South Kirkland P&R bus stop for all service EXCEPT for the bus stop southbound on 108th Ave NE north of Northup Way that is served by Route 255 to
downtown Seattle.
South Kirkland P&R will remain open during construction and will be served by Metro routes 234, 235, 249 and 255, and Sound Transit Route 540.
