In Case of Emergency
On the Bus

In the unlikely event an emergency forces evacuation of a bus, please stay calm and follow the directions of the bus driver. Metro bus drivers have been thoroughly trained to deal with situations like these, quickly and efficiently. Each bus has evacuation exits at the sides and top of the bus, and emergency exit procedures are posted on windows, ceiling escape hatches and doors. Do not block doors.
In the Metro Bus Tunnel

The downtown transit tunnel is equipped with evacuation exits throughout the tunnel. Familiarize yourself with these exits when using the tunnel. There is a red emergency phone located at each bus bay, and on the mezzanine level of each station. Each elevator is also equipped with an emergency call button. The tunnel and stations have automatic fire-detection and suppression systems.
Remember
Metro's communication systems on the bus, in the bus tunnel and in our Communication Center operate in conjunction with local police, fire, and hospital networks. This multi-level system is designed to provide quick response in case of an emergency. Transit employees are constantly monitoring all segments of our system. Response plans are in place, and transit employees are thoroughly trained to respond to a variety of emergency situations.
