Ride Free Area
Hours
Riding Metro Transit is free in downtown Seattle from 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.
Exiting the bus after 7 p.m.
Passengers are permitted to exit via the rear door at all times except in the Ride Free Area between 7 p.m. - 6 a.m., when they should exit through the front door only.
Boundaries
The Ride Free Area extends from the north at Battery St. to S. Jackson St. on the south, and east at 6th Avenue to the waterfront on the west.
If the bus leaves the Ride Free Area between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., the fare is due when exiting the bus. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., the fare is due when boarding the bus.

Exceptions
- Metro routes 116, 118 & 119 are not included in the Ride Free area.
- Central Link Light Rail is not a part of the Ride Free Area.

Loading your bike on a bus
Bicycles can be loaded and unloaded at any regular bus stop, including those in the RFA, at any time. Bicycles may also be loaded or unloaded at any Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel station during all hours the tunnel is open.
