Route 200 in Issaquah to increase coverage in Highlands, reduce service near high school next year under current proposal
Phase 1 change
In June, Route 200 was extended to the Issaquah Highlands Park & Ride via SE Black Nugget Road and Highlands Drive NE to better meet rider demand and improve route performance. Riders now have a connection between the Issaquah Transit Center, downtown and north Issaquah, and the Issaquah Highlands.
In order to do this without additional revenue, Metro deleted two portions of the route (see map).
Phase 2 proposal
Pending King County Council approval, Route 200 could see more changes in March 2016. Metro's current proposal for next year is to extend the route to Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah and get more people where they want to go by serving more areas that have growing need and ridership.
In order to make the proposed extension without creating added costs, Metro would delete the part of the route that travels south of SE Bush Street, near Issaquah High School. This part of the route has very low ridership.
