The mountains were sudden,
sharp edged,
a slicing reality Id missed
in the dreamy haze
of the Pos flatlands.

The sands were red-brown,
the sky a hard, dusty blue.
Id dreamed of ancient pyramids,
and finding only new buildings
turned my thoughts back
